World Brain Day. Brain Health: Access for All.

Today marks World Brain Day, with a 2026 theme centered on closing the gap between neuroscience progress and the patients who need it.

Neurological disorders now affect a huge share of the world’s population, from Parkinson’s to Alzheimer’s to rarer organelle storage disorders. At ORIA Bioscience, we work on the diseases behind these numbers, starting from where they begin: inside the cell.

In Parkinson’s, 𝐓𝐑𝐏𝐌𝐋𝟏 dysfunction disrupts autophagy and membrane repair. In the same disease and in others, 𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐌𝟏𝟕𝟓 loss impairs lysosomal pH and GCase activity, a top hit at a major Parkinson’s GWAS locus. Mitochondrial dysfunction, from impaired mitophagy to oxidative stress, compounds the same failure.

Studying these targets requires access to intact, functional organelles that reflect a physiological environment. That access is what 𝐋𝐘𝐒𝐎-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩™ and 𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐎-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩™ provide to researchers working on these pathologies.
